M.E. LAW, DIRECTOR
|
M.E. Law, our in-house music supervisor and composer, has been a professional performer for over 20 years. She began her career at age 15 in an Ingersoll, Ontario coffeehouse, opening for Canadian folk icons such as Willie B. Bennett and Perth County Conspiracy. Two years later she moved to Toronto and was regularly invited to perform onstage with legendary Toronto blues man Paul James, who encouraged her to continue on her musical path. Soon she was a regular and much admired presence on the club scene as a solo artist in the Toronto and Ottawa area. She then moved on to Vancouver, where she entertained as house singer for two years at the famous "Grape Escape Wine Bar". During her stay the she co-wrote, and recorded songs with multi-Juno award winner Jann Arden. In 1985 she was offered a 4 month performance contract in Japan - it turned into a 5 year stay. She started out in the Kobe - Osaka area before settling into a 3-year solo gig, playing piano and guitar, at the Nagoya International Hotel (Kokusai Hotel). M.E. returned to Canada in 1990, and concentrated on songwriting and performing her original material in clubs and festivals. In 1998, she recorded an original demo C.D. produced by Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Cat Stevens, Bee Gees), at Metalworks, one of Canada's finest studios. Most recently she recorded the theme song for Wiener Takes All with Peter Sprague at his famed SpragueLand Studios in Southern California. M.E.'s songs have appeared in everything from cooking shows, to a George Romero zombie flick. She was also past executive director of the Cabbagetown Community Arts Center in Toronto, a music sanctuary for inner city youth in one of Toronto's poorest areas. With such experience behind her, M.E. is also Infant Monster's community and educational liaison. M.E. is currently overseeing pre-production of our upcoming documentaries on the bowel industry and on music education. |
